It’s a simple statement, but it carries power, doesn’t it?
Tomorrow I take off for the West. The real West, where I grew up, where I learned to love the outdoors before being rolled over to the gator-infested swamps.
In other words, I’m going home.
I have a plan, and I hope that I haven’t scheduled too much or too ambitiously. But I have 34 National Parks and Monuments to get to in the next two months, and god willing, I will get there.
From here on out, I will be posting about each place I visit and the trails I will take. It’ll be a trek, but it will certainly be worthwhile.
Here’s to The Long Road Home.
I just read through several of your articles about the National Parks you’ve visited and the things you’ve seen. Were you traveling by motor home? Your trip looks like it was/is amazing! Thanks for posting your articles.

Thank you for reading! I was in an SUV and camped all the way through. I took off back in July of this year, and was traveling for about a month and a half. It was really the greatest experience of my life so far.

I’m glad you were able to take such an awesome trip and I’m envious of all you saw. Given work, family and just life in general, it will be many years before I could do a trip like that . . . through I can daydream about it. Ha ha.

I was very lucky that everything lined up for me to make this trip, and so I wanted to share it here. I hope you can get out there soon!
