Rainbow Bridge, AZ

"One of the largest arches in the world, it barely fit in the frame of both my camera and phone. The red, solid rock soared over the dipping creek, reigning over the modest canyon and the sheer black and dark drop-offs behind it. All of that, under the clear blue sky. I could barely breathe."

Horseshoe Bend, AZ

"This was the place that I used for my laptop background for over a year, until I finally decided to get out west myself. It was one of the first pictures I came across that gave me a lot of inspiration, and probably part of the reason why I decided to go to the Grand Canyon. So that’s why this time around, on this trip, I decided to go out of my way to visit this place. And oh boy."

Antelope Canyon, AZ

"You simply climb down the stairs from the clay-colored smooth stone above, and you enter into an entirely different environment. All you can see is the sandstone walls, smooth and striated in varying shades. All you can see is the strip of wavy blue sky, corralled and cordoned by the canyon’s tight grip."

Grand Canyon, AZ

"I climbed that damn trail on nothing but spite, and stubborn determination, out of a wish to prove something to myself: that I simply could. And I did. Present day, I looked down at those deathly zigzags of the Bright Angel Trail, and at the steep and sheer descent of the South Kaibab, and I laughed."
